EA posted about an delay in stats for Battlefield 2142.
We are aware of a delay in the processing of statistics for Battlefield 2142. We have worked with GameSpy to identify the issue and the processing of stats is ongoing.
There is currently a large number of un-processed round scores which are currently going through the system, during this time you will experience longer than normal delays in getting your scores.
However all scores are being received normally so you will be credited for any time played. |

| Battlefield 1943: Why The 24-Player Limit? |
:: 09-02-09 20:57:45 |
|
|
Simple answer: because of consoles. Long answer, courtesy of 1943 and inability to process network data in a speedy manner:
64 players are of course awesome but will all good there is some hurting also. I can assure you that the 24 player limit is not about us being lazy but the experience of a massive battlefield is not bound to the amount of players! And as many of you remember most clan wars where player with 8vs8 or 12vs12 and what we have seen many of the 64-player servers are mostly half-full or having lack of performance. We have made it sure that Battlefield 1943 will feel big and have a fast pacing, bf1942 actually had very low pacing! If you place 100 people in one room it feels very small, but if you put 100 people on the streets it seems like nothing! 24 players will give us the benefit of having full servers almost all the time and the whole map area is being used! Beside these design decisions there are technical limitations. There are very restricted bandwidth limits on the consoles and we are networking a lot more then 24 players: 24 players are networked Almost as many physics driven vehicles with movable and destroyable parts All destruction, if a wall is being destroyed on one client we need to update it on all the others, otherwise we could end up with players hiding behind non-existent walls. If we did remove all destruction and all our vehicles we could have more players. But no other game gives you the wide gaming experience we have!

| Bad Company 2 |
:: 05-02-09 21:17:45 |
|
|
DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ:ERTS), today announced Battlefield: Bad Company 2™, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster title. In this installment, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. To get ready for the assault this winter, players can prepare for action in Battlefield 1943™, an all-new multiplayer game available this summer via PlayStation®Store, Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace and on the PC.
In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the ‘B’ company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite™ engine can. Either online or offline, enemies will soon learn there is nowhere to hide. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the PC.
Using the same Frostbite™ engine, Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24 player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Delivering the award-winning through-the-gun and vehicle warfare online experience DICE is best recognized for, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in ruthless aerial dog fights and intense trench combat. Players can see the game in action at New York Comic Con (Booth #1441) from February 6th-8th.
“Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante – more vehicles, more destruction and more team play,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. “Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands.”

| Snow Cancels New DICE Console Game Showing in UK |
:: 03-02-09 10:59:11 |
|
|
VG247 has some interesting news today about an unannounced DICE console game that was about to be revealed today in the UK. Unfortunately it was canceled because of snow.
According to the rumors it may have been another Battlefield console game such as Bad Company sequel. EA Games label President Frank Gibeau said to Variety (October 2008), a sequel idea is planned for Bad Company and Army of Two.
EA’s confirmed to VG247 that a new, unannounced DICE console game was to be shown in the UK today, but the event has been cancelled thanks to snow.
What is it? We’ve been told it’s a new Battlefield, and that an Army of Two sequel was to be shown at the event. EA’s having none of it.
“No mention of either Battlefield or Army of Two,” an EA rep said this afternoon.
“The console-only DICE project is yet to be announced.”
Aside from the DICE game, the new Warhammer Online classes announced last week were definitely to be seen today, as were the new Need for Speed games, SHIFT, NITRO and World Online.
Sounds like the identity of that DICE game won’t stay under wraps for much longer. On reflection: Mirror’s Edge 2? |

BF2 mod: Stunting Soldiers (0.4)
The first official release of the Stunting Soldiers Bf2 Mod has finally been released. Previous versions of the mod were originally built as a kind of home project for use by me and my friends. A new version or update brought out every one or two months but then once the mod had changed so much since version 0.1, I decided to release it to the public so that they can experiece and hopefully enjoy the mod as much as me and my friends. In version 0.1 all that was different to Bf2 was the height of jumping and the the fact that artillery was replaced by a nucleur strike.
In Version 0.4 there is:
- Increased Sprint Time.
- Wake Island is now Single-Player Compatible.
- Localization Folder edited and Updated, Pro Stuntmen are now
- called Dare Devils, Squad Leaders are now called Pro Stuntmen and
- Squads are called Stunt Teams.
- New Menu Movie, Logo and picture for viewing in Modjive
- MEC, CH (PLA) and US Medic Kits have been replaced with the new
- Special Effects Kit which will contain coloured smoke charges and
- flame grenades (that cause no damage).
- Every Kit has C4.
- A Program that copies all the levels from Bf2 and puts them in SS.
- All vehicles (cars, tanks, you name it) has got nos.
- Health for all soldiers is 4000.
- Maximum amount of C4 In World is 250.
- Reload Time for C4's and AT Missiles has been decreased.
- C4 and AT rockets explosion force increased.
- All teams have unlimited c4, anti-tank missiles and smoke grenades.
- Artillary has been replaced with a Nucleur Warhead.
- Gravity reduced.
- Soldiers can jump up to 10x the normal height.

| IGN Predicts Battlefield 3 for 2009 |
:: 28-01-09 13:45:26 |
|
|
IGN published their PC gaming predictions for 2009. Making the list is a possible announcement of Battlefield 3. Keep in mind this is all speculation.
 Now that Battlefield: Bad Company for the consoles and Mirror's Edge are out the door and Battlefield Heroes a lot closer to launch, the folks up at DICE have a lot of time on their hands. There have been rumblings for years that DICE is working on a follow-up to its 2005 smash hit Battlefield 2, and we're confident that the boys (and girls) at the Swedish studio are going to finally announce a sequel, to the delight of PC gamers everywhere. After all, despite being four years old this year, nothing has come close to matching Battlefield 2's wild blend of large-scale multiplayer warfare. Well, nothing except Battlefield 2142, the sci-fi follow-up, but we're hoping Battlefield 3 returns the series to the familiar and popular setting of modern warfare.
